Our ECCCA Parliamentarian and neighbor, Mrs. Gladys Jordan, is being honored with the Monroe Medal from the University of Mary Washington. This prestigious award honors an alumnus who has shown “extraordinary career achievement used to benefit humanity and society” and “extraordinary leadership that serves as a model for others.” Please note that Mrs. Jordan has cordially invited us to attend the Awards Ceremony at UMW on 3/14/16, but especially the local celebration on 3/20/16, 2-4pm, at the Hunton Community Center 11690 Old Washington Hwy, Glen Allen. Our neighbor, Ms. Evelyn Baker passed last week. Valerie Parker shared that Ms. Baker taught at VUU and was also a beloved landlord whose former tenants would often visit her. Most recently, she shared a home with her former colleague, Dr. Iris King. From the Times Dispatch, “BAKER, Evelyn C., of Richmond, died March 10, 2016. Remains rest at Scott’s Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd. Funeral notice later.”
The next 4th Precinct MPACT meeting scheduled for Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will be held in the library of Linwood Holton Elementary School (1600 West Laburnum Avenue).
This month we invite you to attend a MPACT conversation with special guest speakers, Sector 412 Lieutenant Keyshawn Manns and 4th Precinct Personnel. Officer Paul Lewis, Richmond Police Department, will discuss the Neighborhood Watch Program. Sarah Henrikson, with the Department of Public Utilities will discuss the Wastewater Division, Pretreatment Department. Join us at this meeting to hear from your neighbors, share your ideas, and identify solutions we can implement together to build a better Richmond!

Spring cleaning is in the air!!!
Join us for our next Neighborhood Cleanup on March 19th from 7-10AM. We will be meeting behind Resurrection Lutheran Church (2500 Seminary Ave.) and starting our adventure there. Volunteers are still needed; if interested, please contact Harris Wheeler at 804-475-4561 or email@example.com. Please note, this is a fantastic way for our kids to gain civic duty experience!!! Light lunch provided for volunteers.
You can also participate by placing unwanted items including yard brush, bulky items, and junk in your alley (or curb if you don’t have an alley) for pick up.

Join us for our next Edgehill-Chamberlayne Court Civic Association on Tuesday, March 22nd, at Resurrection Lutheran Church (2500 Seminary Ave) from 6-7pm. It’s time to bring out the vote; your 2016-17 Executive Board will be elected. Remember, only active members can vote– a good reason to join ECCCA if you haven’t done so already.
